Our green programme has been in place since 2008, and guides many areas of our day-to-day decision making. From making sure we recycle as much waste paper, plastic metal and glass as possible, to ensuring our PCs are turned off when they’re not needed, there are many areas where our staff know they can make a real difference. As well as making the business more energy efficient, this also ensures that we are always looking for new ways to save energy and help the environment.
Most recently we conducted a green review of our energy usage and found that we could all benefit from more innovative use of lighting.
Working alongside environmental technology consultancy ENER-G we designed a project to refresh all of our lighting throughout our HQ.
Michael Bond, lighting products manager at ENER-G, comments: "This measure required a substantial upfront cost, but the benefits include an instant saving of 33% on the majority of lighting electricity cost and a saving of up to 50% on the remainder."
Our head of service delivery, Daljit Paul, comments: "Networks First’s commitment to the environment has enabled our headquarters to still look and function as it did prior to the implementation of the project, but now it works much more efficiently. All lighting is now energy efficient, and motion sensor lighting has also been fitted in the key areas meaning that less energy will be consumed, thus reducing our carbon footprint."
In addition Networks First monitors for new environmental regulations and is compliant with the WEEE (Waste Electrical and Electronic Equipment) Directive. That’s not to say our work is finished. We’re still looking for new ways to reduce our carbon emissions, and we continue to welcome suggestions.
CSV Training Programmes
